Rest & restore: strategies for sleep – 4 WEEK, ONLINE PROGRAM

A 4-week exploration to learn what you can do for a better sleep. To find rest. Restore your energy to help meet life’s challenges with more resilience.

Each week, change into your most comfy clothes (or pajamas), pour yourself a warm beverage and join in.

10-15 minutes. While you sip your tea, hot chocolate or other beverage of choice there will first be a short presentation/discussion. Topics will include:

  • stress, the nervous system and the effects on sleep
  • how what you do in the day, affects what happens at night
  • how deep rest differs from sleep, but can also be beneficial
  • the circadian system and how our modern way of life disrupts what should come naturally
  • other sleep systems: homeostatic and hyperarousal systems
  • general sleep hygiene

20-30 minutes. Set your cup aside and move into experiential, exploratory practices. Safe, soft, gentle movement and other practices to help shift your state from an activated response to one better prepared to rest. To sleep.

5-10 minutes. A few minutes of space. Quiet time for you to just be, to rest, to notice how you feel after the practices or journal about it.

Lastly, time to stick around and chat, ask questions if you want to. Maybe you’ll just slip into bed.

This workshop is not meant to be a ‘fix-it’ or ‘fix-you’ program. Rather, it’s exploring what works, what doesn’t, what’s ‘Just Right, For You’. Often programs don’t work as ‘one thing’ is meant to be a good fit for everyone. I find that’s not the case. We are not all the same, with the same history, environment, bodies, concerns and needs.

WEEK 1 – Morning options – what might you do when waking up even before getting out of bed, to get you started? Spend just a few minutes and begin your day with more ease, less pain.

WEEK 2 – Evening options – what might you do to make the transition to a restful sleep a little easier? What might you do if you wake up during the night? How might you get enough sleep, rest?

WEEK 3 – Daytime options – We’ll cover the basics. Figure out what might be needed, what to do, when to do it. Options you choose from. It doesn’t have to be a lot, or complicated.

WEEK 4 – Rest, Renew, Recover, Resiliency options – Constructive rest. Calm the nervous system. What does that even mean? How might it be helpful? When might you do this? What might be the result? Again, easy, simple options to find what’s ‘Just Right, For You’.
